Tips for Managing the Buffet at New Year’s :

  1. Don't skip meals beforehand Arriving at the party hungry can lead to overeating. Have a light, nutritious snack, like yogurt with nuts or whole-grain toast, before you leave to help manage your appetite.

  1. Prioritize fruits and vegetables Fill half your plate with vegetables and salads first. These foods are high in fiber, vitamins, and minerals, which help you feel full and satisfied with fewer calories.

  2. Practice portion control Enjoy a small amount of your favourite high-calorie dishes instead of piling them high. Use a smaller plate if available, and focus on the quality and flavour of the food rather than the quantity.

  3. Choose drinks wisely Opt for water, sparkling water with a twist of lemon, or unsweetened tea to stay hydrated. Sugary sodas and alcoholic beverages add empty calories and can lead to poor food choices. If you do drink alcohol, alternate each serving with a glass of water.
